Marci Cheeseborough: Photographer of Family, love, and life.

After having a child with special needs, Marci and her husband found it challenging to capture “traditional” studio images of their daughter. As a result, they decided to take more natural pictures of their sweet girl at home on their own.

Several years later, when their daughter was eleven, an old friend came for a visit. That friend, a photographer, snapped a few images of Marci’s daughter hanging out in the living room, just being herself. The images captured her daughter’s spirit in a way that Marci & her husband had never seen before. So delighted by what they saw , they determined that Marci would learn to capture the same kinds of images; blessing others as they had been blessed.

Marci is not just a photographer, but also a storyteller. Her unique experience and special touch enables her to capture the emotion and heart of any occasion, grabbing memories and freezing them in time.

Whether you’re newly engaged, have just become a family or are celebrating decades together, you’ve got a story to tell. Marci would be thrilled to help you tell it!

Visit Marci & see her beautiful photography at The Hub

For an Artist, art is not a choice; it is something that must come out. It is the true expression of your self and it begins at an early age. It all really started with photography for me; I fell in love with the viewfinder of the camera and the ability to create such perfect images within it. As I followed my heart into the world of photography I began to find my style, I love the intricacies and perfections of nature. I found myself needing to get as close to it as possible, to focus in on small sections of the natural world, to show people their world in a different way. Quickly I began to see my photographic style translate into my drawings and paintings.

With this new change my vision became focused on painting, I applied to and was accepted into the highly accredited Laguna College of Art and Design, inLaguna Beach,CA. I chose illustration as my major and by my junior year I had begun to hone my skills as an oil painter. After four years I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in environmental oil paintings. The more I worked with oils the more I loved the feel of the oils and the bounce of the brush on the canvas, the layers and the mixing of colors. There is a beautiful amount of light that can be created through the layers of oils; the process itself adds another layer of warmth and depth to the image. Over the years I have been torn between my two loves, painting and photography, but have recently come to a place where I can really enjoy both worlds and let them play back and forth off of each other. With a recent move back to the Northwest, I have been artistically refueled and inspired to push my artistic drive wherever it may take me.

See Taylor at Gibson’s Frozen Yogurt Shop

John Wise will be sharing his paintings at this years Art & Wine walk. Here is a sample of his work and below is his Artist Statement.

Long before I considered painting I had the amazing experience of viewing the land with wonder and awe. Being raised on a fairly large cattle ranch in northwestern Arizona, I was blessed to see spaces of beauty as though I was the first and only visitor. I remember feeling so privileged and at a loss to describe the view.

Later, when I worked closely with several Indian tribes, I continued to experience vistas of incredible beauty and mystery and wishing that I could share what I saw, “wish my friends/family could see this.”

I was lucky enough to develop a talent that, hopefully, will instill a feeling of wanting to be “right there” in my paintings. Being there was so breathtaking for me.

It’s been said that I have my head in the clouds since I like to include clouds in my landscapes, and I have painted a number of cloudscapes. I’ve always been fascinated by their form and color. Washington is an excellent place to find them.

Although I paint with acrylics, my goal has always been to make them look as much like oil painting as possible; a pretty difficult task since the quick drying time of acrylics affects the ability to blend colors

I’ve been a Grunbacher/Michel’s art instructor Since May, facilitating fine art acrylic painting classes since May 2010. I teach at the Silverdale Michael’s and here at 38th street. We always have a great time and leave feeling confident and inspired by our experience.

I have exhibited my works in a number of shows and competitions including the Western Washington State Fair in Puyallup, The City of Auburn, the Frank Tobey Jones Art Show, and the Lakewold Gardens Art show. I was invited to present a number of my pieces in an individual art show at the Sidney Art Gallery in Port Orchard. I have my work exhibited here at the 253 Collective located at 1901 South Jefferson Street in downtown Tacoma.
